LITERACY IS A RIGHT

Literacy is a civil right. Without the ability to read, we struggle to be gainfully employed, read contracts, get drivers licenses and more. Children that cannot read are more likely to drop out of school and illiterate adults make up a huge portion of the prison population.

THERE’S HOPE

Research has shown that we can learn to read at any age. We believe in the science of reading that includes direct, explicit, systematic, sequential and diagnostic strategies to teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

We're Here For...

  • Early Readers

Let us build the foundation of literacy for your early reader. Our direct, explicit and systematic instruction is built around the science of reading and our tutors are trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach. Schedule a consultation to learn more about how we work with early readers.

  • Struggling Readers

Whether you’re 9 or 99, we’re here to help struggling to readers through explicit and systematic instruction that meets you where you are. Before we get started, we’ll plan a one hour complimentary assessment to determine you or your child’s needs. Schedule a consultation to see how we can help you or your child.

  • Homeschoolers

We know how hard it is to find a homeschool curriculum that truly helps your child learn to read. If you have an early or struggling reader, we’ll develop a tutoring plan that includes instructions for homeschooling parents to carry on our work throughout the week.

FAQS

How Long Do Sessions Last?

Sessions last 55-60 minutes. Please note that from time to time children with difficulties such as ADHD or working memory challenges may be released early. We will not push your child beyond their capacity. We’re here to make education and learning impactful. Children who have reached their limit are neither learning nor learning to love education. Because of this, we may end sessions early to accommodate your child’s needs. Please reach out to us should you have questions or concerns about this policy.

Will You Give My Child an Assessment Before We Begin?

Absolutely. We will assess your child before sessions begin (for free) to determine where they are and where we should start. Kiss Your Brain is proud to be diagnostic and prescriptive

How Do I Pay For Tutoring

Invoices for tutoring are emailed once a month, typically on the first of the month for that month’s scheduled sessions. The sessions may be paid via the invoice or via another pre-arranged payment method.

Should I Choose Group Classes or 1:1 Tutoring?

This is your decision to make, however, we recommend 1:1 tutoring for children suspected of dyslexia. We would be happy to discuss this further over the phone.

What If I Miss a Pre-Paid Session?

We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation. Cancellations with an appropriate notice may be credited or rescheduled. Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours) will not be rescheduled or credited unless there is an emergency. Please refer to your contract for additional information.
